Duane Desoto Wins Oxbow ASP Longboard World Championship
From Oxbow
Makaha - November 4th 2010
Duane DeSoto becomes the new Longboard World Champion today at Makaha. Duane is born and raised at Makaha whose professional surfing talent was discovered in 1993 by Oxbow during the Haleiwa World Longboard Championship.
17 years later he's become World Champion in his own town. The day was blessed with an amazing vibe on the beach and also in the water. Solid four to six Hawaiian foot waves graced Makaha Beach, offering the best playground for all surfers to display their abilities.
Duane didn't miss this opportunity to show to everyone that he could become number one. The tension on the beach was at its maximum level and his final against Antoine Delpero was just out of control. Duane handled the pressure and beat his team-mate in a fantastic and fair won battle.
Duane is an amazing free-surfer, and president of Na Kama Kai, a non-profit organization who take care of the kids and give them the opportunity to discover the ocean. Duane is an incredible new World Longboard Champion.
Oxbow now has it's first World surfing champion and Duane offers the best gift to the brand for the much heralded 25th anniversary of the company.
